ADHD Testing in Boston

At Psych Boston, we utilize Creyos Health to provide our patients with objective, scientifically-validated insights into their brain health. This advanced cognitive testing protocol helps us further explore and refine ADHD diagnoses by measuring specific “markers” of attention and executive function.

What is Creyos Objective Testing?

Creyos (formerly known as Cambridge Brain Sciences) is a digital assessment platform that replaces traditional “pen-and-paper” testing with engaging, web-based tasks. These tasks are designed to measure the core aspects of cognition that are often affected by ADHD, such as concentration, memory, and planning.

Comprehensive Psychiatry Services in Boston

Working with an experienced psychiatrist in Boston allows you to receive a thorough evaluation and a treatment plan designed specifically for your needs. Mental health conditions can affect relationships, work performance, sleep, and overall well-being. Our approach focuses on identifying the root causes of symptoms rather than simply managing them.

We take time to understand your medical history, emotional patterns, stress factors, and personal goals. From there, we develop a structured plan that may include therapy, medication management when appropriate, and practical coping strategies to promote long-term improvement.

How the ADHD Protocol Works

The Creyos ADHD protocol consists of a 20-minute series of five cognitive tasks:

  • Sustained Attention to Response Task (SART): A 6-minute task that measures your ability to maintain mindful, conscious focus during repetitive or unstimulating activities.

  • Double Trouble: Measures “response inhibition”—the ability to stay focused on relevant information even when there are distractions.

  • Feature Match: Assesses attention by having you quickly identify differences between complex images.

  • Spatial Planning: Evaluates your ability to act with forethought and prepare a sequence of steps to reach a goal.

  • Token Search: A measure of working memory, testing your ability to temporarily hold, update, and manipulate information.

Why Objective Data Matters

Traditional ADHD diagnosis often relies on subjective reports from clinical interviews and questionnaires. While these are vital, Creyos adds an objective layer of evidence.

  • Normative Database Comparison: Your results are compared against a massive normative database of over 85,000 individuals. This allows us to see how your cognitive performance compares to others in your specific age group.

  • Clinically-Validated Markers: The protocol tracks 14 specific “markers” that have been linked to ADHD in over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers.

  • Identifying Deficits: If a patient’s performance is more than one standard deviation away from the typical mean in a direction associated with ADHD, it is flagged for further clinical review.
